Hypertension

Hypertension is abnormally high blood pressure, especially as it pertains to arterial blood pressure. It's also considered the "condition" that accompanies high blood pressure.

At Illinois Kidney Disease and Hypertension Center, we recognize the fact that not only is high blood pressure a danger in itself, but it can also cause damage to the kidneys. In fact, the kidneys play a role in keeping your blood pressure at the right level. Therefore, hypertension and chronic kidney disease are intertwined and often appear together. Also, studies indicate that aggressive control of blood pressure is critical to the treatment and prevention of kidney disease. Check out the section on Hypertension for more information on how we diagnose, prevent and treat this condition.
